Dakota Blue
Dakota Blue Richards (born 11 April 1994) is an English actress from England. Her debut film at 13 was with The Golden Compass, as the lead role of Lyra Belacqua. Other leading roles include wayward teenager April in Dustbin Baby and Maria in the 2009 film The Secret of Moonacre. She was Franky Fitzgerald, a third generation actor in the British Teen Drama Skins in 2011. She also has appeared in parts in film, TV as well as on stage.Richards was born in the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in the Fulham Road, London. She was raised in Sussex by her family, and later moved to Newlands School. After being a student at St Paul's Primary School, she went on to Blatchington Mill School, Hove as well as KBis Theatre School, Brighton. She later said that she would like to play Lyra. The audition process included over ten thousand people applying, and Philip Pullman (author of the books) told the press, "As soon as I saw the screen test of Dakota, I realised that the search was over." Chris Weitz, the director of the show, stated that Richards "made what should be a very difficult choice seem like a breeze.
